Our sister blog soyacincau.com highlights a report by The Star that Maxis COO has been appointed as CEO of Telenor Pakistan.
From where we’re seeing it, this could mean the sub-RM1k iPhone rumour purported first by Malaysian Insider could be on shaky ground.
This is because we don’t think it’d make much sense for an important person with a highly involved portfolio such as operations would want to miss the big party of an apparent important launch that the person could very well pay an crucial role in (ie. the launch of sub-RM1k iPhone 3G by Maxis).
Hence we’re still skeptical about the rumour not just because of this recent announcement but for a number of reasons.
In any case, we’ve mentioned it before and we’ll say it again, Maxis is more than welcome to make an announcement anytime soon to prove us wrong. By soon we mean before SingTel launches the iPhone 3G officially in Singapore.
Send in your support now. Together, we will make it happen!
Malaysia Boleh!

If you know more, Telenor is actually the mother company of DiGi in Norway, where Telenor is still seeking the way to sell iPhone.
