Apple PR announced that Apple has sold its one millionth iPhone 3G on Sunday, just three days after the dream device was launched on Friday, July 11.
Steve Jobs says that its a “stunning opening weekend” for the second gen iPhone stating that it took 74 days for the first iPhone to achieve the 1 million mark.
We think this is no surprise given the fact the the original was mainly only available in North America during launch. Though subsequently, it was sold in five other countries: Ireland, UK, France, Germany and Austria. In its opening weekend (or more accurately within the first 30 hours of launch) Apple sold 270,000 first gen iPhones.
In comparison, the iPhone 3G was made available in 22 countries during its launch.
But still, 1 million iPhone 3G sold in 3 days is indeed a stunning feat. Apple targets to sell 10 million iPhone 3G sold by year end, by the looks of things they might just exceed that number.
In the meantime we Malaysians we are still wondering whether Maxis will bring the iPhone 3G to Malaysia.
We hope Maxis will stop playing with us and announce something soon. If they are not bringing the device in then, say so. If they are, then say so. Be transparent and don’t keep your customers in the dark.
Send in your support now. Together, we will make it happen!
Malaysia Boleh!
