11 July 2008 – iPhone 3G launched!

In a few hours Apple stores in selected countries around the world will open its doors to sell one of the most sought after mobile devices in recent times.

Despite this, some lucky few have already gotten their grubby mitts on the super-cool device. Here are some of the snippets.

Generally its all good but the iPhone 3G is not without it’s flaws. One major issue is the less then ideal battery life this is compounded further with the inability to replace the battery on the iPhone 3G. Also, the GPS is not as powerful as the reviewers would expect being easily obscured and confused even when inside cars.

One important improvement that got us all excited during the announcement of the iPhone 3G is Exchange server support and from what the reviewers are saying, it looks like that synchronisation works like a peach and setup looks to be relatively easy.

The iPhone 3G manages to add on and improve the iPhone but there are still a few things missing:

– No voice dialing
- No video recording
- A limited camera
- No memory-card slot
- No copy-and-paste function
- No MMS for sending photos to other phones
- No Bluetooth stereo audio
- No support for Adobe Flash, Windows Media Video, or Java
